Secretary Raemisch Appoints New Warden at Kettle Moraine Michael Dittmann Brings More Than Two Decades of Experience to New Leadership Role MADISON – Department of Corrections (DOC) Secretary Rick Raemisch today announced the appointment of Michael Dittmann as the new Warden of the Kettle Moraine Correctional Institution (KMCI). “Michael Dittmann has a lengthy and distinguished tenure in Corrections, and he will bring great talents, extensive experience and a high degree of professionalism to the role of Warden at Kettle Moraine,” Secretary Raemisch said. “He has demonstrated strong leadership qualities at Kettle Moraine, both as Security Director and Deputy Warden.” Dittmann began his corrections career in 1986 as a Correctional Officer at the Waupun Correctional Institution (WCI), advancing through the ranks of Sergeant, Lieutenant and Captain. In 1994, he was the first DOC employee to receive the Dodge County Executive Law Enforcement Association award for Officer of the Year. Dittmann also was the first Security Director for the Department of Health and Family Services’ Sand Ridge Secure Treatment Center in Mauston. In 2002, Dittmann was named KMCI’s Security Director. He was named the facility’s Deputy Warden in 2006. Dittmann’s leadership has spanned a variety of areas in corrections management. He has chaired a division-wide committee and trained employees on the safe and appropriate use of force in managing inmates who try to physically act out toward staff. In addition, Dittmann helped to develop division-wide policies on sexual assault prevention and investigation, and has been a leader in the training and development for other Division-wide policies and procedures. Dittmann succeeds former KMCI Warden Larry Jenkins, who in January 2008 moved to the role of Warden at Redgranite Correctional Institution (RGCI). Dittmann’s appointment takes effect March 24, 2008.
