Secretary Raemisch Appoints New Superintendent of John C. Burke Correctional Center
Chris A. Krueger to oversee Waupun-based minimum-security facility
for women inmates

MADISON – Department of Corrections (DOC) Secretary Rick Raemisch today announced that Chris A. Krueger has been named Superintendent of the John C. Burke Correctional Center (JBCC) in Waupun.

“Chris Krueger has a strong track record of public service in our adult prison system, and her experience in corrections management, human resources, treatment, reentry planning and other areas will be an asset to our Wisconsin Women’s Correctional System,” Secretary Raemisch said. “I am pleased that she is taking on this new leadership role.”

Krueger currently is the Institution Social Services Director at the Fox Lake Correctional Institution (FLCI). She began her career in corrections at Dodge Correctional Institution (DCI) in 1994 and worked at the Oshkosh Correctional Institution (OSCI) and Wisconsin Secure Program Facility (WSPF), in addition to FLCI. Positions Krueger previously held include Warden’s Secretary, Human Resources Assistant, Institution Complaint Examiner and Corrections Unit Supervisor in OSCI’s intake and sex offender units. Prior to working in corrections, Krueger was employed by the Waupun School District for many years.

Krueger has participated in a variety of DOC committees and workgroups, including the Pre-Release Curriculum Workgroup, Visiting Policy Workgroup, Wisconsin Integrated Corrections System Program, Visitation, Communications and Training Workgroups, and the PSS Social Worker Workload Labor/Management Workgroup.

Krueger received the 2007 Arise Family Services Community Restoration Award for her work with inmates returning to their Madison-area homes.

In conjunction with Cardinal Stritch University, Krueger has been diligent in her attempts to increase awareness in WI schools around the specials needs and struggles of children with incarcerated parents.

Krueger succeeds former JBCC Superintendent Susan Ross, who in November 2008 was named Superintendent of the Winnebago Correctional Center. The JBCC has a current capacity for 186 adult women. It is a minimum-security facility.
