DOC Secretary Frank Appoints New Superintendent of
McNaughton Correctional Center
Molly Sullivan Olson takes helm of Northern Wisconsin
correctional facility
LAKE TOMAHAWK – Department of Corrections (DOC) Secretary Matt Frank
today announced the appointment of Molly Sullivan Olson as the new
Superintendent of the McNaughton Correctional Center (MCC).
“Molly Sullivan Olson brings three decades’ worth of corrections
experience to her new management role,” Secretary Frank said. “Her strong,
wide-ranging background makes her well-suited to fulfill McNaughton’s
mission of holding offenders accountable, while preparing them for a
successful reentry to the community. While a primary focus of the
correctional center is on job experience and employment readiness through
work-release programs, the center also focuses on treatment, education,
community service and other programs that help increase public safety by
preparing offenders for a successful reentry.”
Olson began her Wisconsin corrections career in 1977 with the Division
of Juvenile Services as a Social Services Specialist. In 1984, she
transferred to the Drug Abuse Correctional Center, where she worked as a
senior Social Worker providing AODA counseling, anger management, domestic
violence counseling and relapse education to inmates. In 1993, she
promoted to her current position of Corrections Class Management
Supervisor in the Bureau of Offender Classification and Movement, where
she has been responsible for all facets of inmate movement. She holds
valuable experience working with both juveniles and adult offenders.
Olson graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from the
College of St. Teresa in Winona, Minnesota, and currently maintains her
certifications in both Social Work and as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor.
She is a graduate of the Department’s Leadership Development Program in
2004.
Olson’s appointment goes into effect June 24, 2007. She replaces former
Superintendent Mary Kay Kollat, who was named DOC Reentry Director earlier
this year. MCC houses male offenders in their last months of incarceration
before they complete their prison sentence and are released to the
community. MCC is one of 13 facilities operated under the Wisconsin
Correctional Center System within the Division of Adult Institutions.
