“Floyd has an impressive track record of public service in our correctional system, and his experience in corrections management, security, treatment, reentry planning and other areas will be an asset to the DAI administration,” Secretary Raemisch said. “He has demonstrated strong leadership qualities and commitment to public safety. I am pleased that he is joining our executive team.”

Mitchell began his corrections career in 1990 as a Youth Counselor at Ethan Allen School, promoting to Supervising Youth Counselor in 1994. In 2001, he transferred to the Milwaukee Secure Detention Facility (MSDF) as a Supervising Officer 2.  While at MSDF, he advanced through the ranks of Intake Captain, First Shift Commander, Administrative Captain, and Security Director.  In 2006, before being appointed in his current position as the Warden of Racine Youthful Offender Correctional Facility, he was the Superintendent of the Felmers O.
