DOC Secretary Raemisch Appoints New Warden
of Stanley Correctional Institution
Jeffrey Pugh to oversee Stanley-based
medium-security institution for male offenders
MADISON – Wisconsin Department of
Corrections (DOC) Secretary Rick Raemisch today announced that Jeffrey
Pugh has been named Warden of the Stanley Correctional Institution
(SCI).
“Jeff Pugh spent much of his corrections career in northern
Wisconsin, and I am pleased he will be returning to the region in this
new management role,” Secretary Raemisch said. “Of all the facilities in
the DOC system, medium-security institutions house the most number of
inmates. Collectively, they play a vital role in fulfilling our agency’s
mission of working to keep Wisconsin safe. I am confident that Jeff
Pugh’s experience and talent will further enhance operations at the
Stanley facility.”
Pugh is currently Superintendent of the Oregon Correctional Center
(OCC) in Dane County, where he has been since 2006. He began his DOC
career 1993 as a Correctional Officer at Columbia Correctional
Institution (CCI) and Oakhill Correctional Institution (OCI). He
promoted to a Correctional Sergeant at OCI in 1994 and then transferred
to Jackson Correctional Institution (JCI) in 1996. He was promoted to a
Supervising Officer II at JCI in January 2000 and transferred later that
year to the Black River Correctional Center (BRCC). He played a critical
role in transitioning BRCC to a boot camp program, which continues
today.
Pugh, who grew up in Black River Falls, earned an associate’s degree
in architectural and structural technology from the Northeast Wisconsin
Technical College.
Secretary Raemisch extended thanks to JCI Warden Randy Hepp, who has
overseen SCI in an interim capacity during the Warden search. The SCI
manages approximately 1,500 male offenders and has approximately 380
full-time-equivalent (FTE) employees.
Pugh’s appointment takes effect November 8, 2009.
