DOC Secretary Appoints Ismael Ozanne
Executive Assistant

MADISON – Wisconsin Department of Corrections (DOC) Secretary Rick Raemisch today announced Ismael Ozanne of Madison will be the new Executive Assistant for the agency. Ozanne, who has served as a prosecutor with the Dane County District Attorney’s Office, begins his new role February 4.

“I am extremely pleased that Ismael Ozanne will be joining the DOC’s executive leadership team,” Secretary Raemisch said. “As a veteran prosecutor with a decade of experience in the Dane County District Attorney’s Office, he brings strong credentials and leadership abilities to the Department. From prosecuting felony drug and domestic abuse cases, to working closely with victims and victim advocates, Ozanne has established a distinguished track record in criminal justice.”

Ozanne is currently an Assistant District Attorney with the Dane County District Attorney’s Office, where he has prosecuted cases since 1998. He previously worked as a law clerk at the Madison firm of Atterbury, Riley & Kammer from 1997 to 1998. Prior to that, he worked as a legal intern with the Frank J. Remington Center in Madison.

Ozanne earned his law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1998 and his bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1994. He is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin and serves on the executive board of the Association of State Prosecutors.

As Executive Assistant for the DOC, Ozanne will oversee key activities within the agency and will be a top adviser to Secretary Raemisch and Governor Jim Doyle on legislative and policy matters. Ozanne will succeed Susan Crawford, who left the DOC in December, 2007 to become an Administrator at the Department of Natural Resources.
