INSTITUTION INFORMATION The 300-bed Sturtevant Transitional Faciity (STF) is designed to provide for better offender reintegration to the community and accountability for offenders. The facility will provide Alternatives to Revocation (ATR), Work Release, Community Service, and act as a hold facility, similar to a county jail. STF has two security levels; one side is 150-bed minimum custody, the other side is 150-bed maximum custody.
STF grounds cover about 13 acres. RCI/STF buildings and grounds together occupy approximately 63 acres of a 150-acre site. The facility consists of two 150-bed units.
The minimum-security portion of STF houses up to 150 minimum-security Division of Adult Institution (DAI) and Alternative to Revocation (ATR) offenders. Offenders placed at STF as an Alternative to Revocation are those who have been placed on probation or who have served their required time in prison and have been released to supervision in the community and subsequently violated rules of parole or probation.
The ATR offenders participate in programming such as:
Other programming may be added in the future, such as parenting and cognitive intervention programs.
The Probation & Parole Hold (P&P Hold) portion of STF is a maximum security unit that can house up to 150 offenders awaiting revocation processing and possible transfer to higher security. There are two double-tiered pods. The majority of the rooms are double-occupancy.
