Secretary Frank appoints new Warden to oversee two
correctional facilities
Pamela Wallace to lead Stanley Correctional Institution,
Chippewa Valley Correctional Treatment Facility
(MADISON)--Wisconsin
Department of Corrections (DOC) Secretary Matthew Frank today announced
the appointment of Pamela J. Wallace as the new Warden for the Stanley
Correctional Institution and Chippewa Valley Correctional Treatment
Facility.
“Pamela Wallace
brings a wealth of experience to her new management role,” Secretary Frank
said. “She has close to 15 years of service in the corrections field. I am
confident she will lead both DOC facilities with distinction.”
Wallace began her
career in state service as a Correctional Officer in 1991 at Oakhill
Correctional Institution. In May 1992, she promoted to Sergeant at Racine
Correctional Institution, where she advanced to Supervising Officer in
1995, Corrections Unit Supervisor in 1997 and Administrative Captain in
1998. In 2000, she became the new Security Director of the Racine Youthful
Offender Correctional Facility. In 2002, she was appointed Deputy Warden
of Racine Correctional, and she became Deputy Warden at Stanley in January
2004.
In addition, Wallace
has co-chaired the DOC’s Religious Practices Advisory Committee and
completed the Department’s Leadership Development Program. She has served
as Crisis Negotiations Team Leader, Initial Officer in Charge, Critical
Incident Stress Debriefing Peer Supporter and has been part of an
Emergency Response Unit. She attended Gateway Technical College in Kenosha
and the Madison Area Technical College in Madison.
Stanley Correctional
Institution, located just outside Stanley, is a medium-security
institution for male offenders. It is one of the largest medium-security
institutions in the DOC system. Chippewa Valley Correctional Treatment
Facility, located in Chippewa Falls, is a minimum-security institution for
male offenders and the state’s first prison dedicated to alcohol and drug
treatment. The facility opened in 2004.
Wallace will replace
Dan Benik, who has led both facilities and is retiring this month after 34
years of state service.
The appointment takes
effect September 4.
