Mission Statement: "As a bureau of the
Department of Corrections, our mission is to ensure a quality,
diverse and satisfied workforce. We accomplish this through
developing, implementing and maintaining a wide array of human
resource services for our customers."
The Bureau strives to achieve this by:
- Following Civil Service legal and procedural requirements.
- Accurately processing payroll and leave accounting and administering benefit provisions.
- Developing and delivering a training program to meet the staff development needs of
Department employees.
- Interpreting and enforcing the Departments Affirmative Action/Equal Employment
Opportunity plan.
- Interpreting and enforcing Department work rules; negotiating master and local labor
contracts; interpreting and enforcing the provisions of the collective-bargaining
contracts; and filing, hearing, and resolving grievances and complaints.
- Maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations, identifying and eliminating
hazards, and promoting safe and healthy conduct of DOC employees, visitors, and inmates.
