Between November 3, 2003 and December 5, 2003 the Division of Juvenile
Corrections (DJC) conducted five Listening Sessions at locations
throughout the state. Invitees included county Human Service Directors and
staff, judges, prosecutors, Public Defenders, Juvenile Justice Commission
members, WJCIA board members, WJOA board members and other partners in
Juvenile Justice. Thirty counties were represented at the sessions, and a
total of 93 non-DOC people attended. DOC staff in attendance included
representatives of administration, institution and field staff and union
officials.
The Listening Sessions were designed to provide DJC with information in
three key areas:
-
Identifying juvenile justice programs that are working;
-
Building partnerships; and
-
Planning for the future.
Listening Session feedback was supplemented by information gathered
through a survey and through the rating of current and future program
options (voting results).
