Milwaukee, WI 53205

 INTRODUCTION

MSCC Opened in 1981 and is located in the city of Milwaukee, Marshall Sherrer Correctional Center (MSCC) is a minimum security, 58-bed, correctional center for adult male inmates.  Housing is contained in a single story brick building that includes inmate housing, kitchen, laundry, administrative offices, and storage.  Inmates placed at MSCC are generally releasing to the Milwaukee area.

PROGRAMS

The primary focus of MSCC is work release and assisting inmates to prepare for their release to the community.  Upon arrival at MSCC, inmates are assessed during an initial monitoring period, which includes participation in a center job assignment.  After completing the monitoring period, inmates are considered for work release.  While on work release, inmates are expected to save money for their release, pay room, board, and transportation charges, child support, restitution, and other court obligations.

The Department's standardized Pre-Release Curriculum, including Employability Skills training, is a key component to the preparation of inmates for successfully obtaining and retaining jobs.  The modules of the Pre-Release Curriculum also provide skills and tools to assist inmates upon the completion of their commitment.

Division of Community Corrections probation and parole agents also play an active role at MSCC by working with inmates on release planning and other preparation for a successful transition to the community.

Additional programs offered by MSCC include Healthy Relationships and Nurturing Fathers. A Mentoring program is also in the development stages.
