INSTITUTION MISSION STATEMENTThe mission of Oakhill Correctional Institution (OCI) is to maintain the safe and secure custody of minimum security offenders in a responsive, supportive, equitable and quality environment. Offenders will be provided opportunities for positive cognitive and behavioral development and progress through proven, cultural-competent programming and treatment. Opportunities also will be provided through fair, consistent and objective staff decision-making and performance.
OCI provides quality health care, health education and preventative care consistent with professional, community and correctional health standards. The institution also provides dental services to all general population inmates and/or minimum custody inmates involved in intensive programming activities prior to their return to the community.
SPECIAL HISTORICAL NOTES AND OTHER INSTITUTIONAL INFORMATIONOCI was originally opened as the Wisconsin School for Girls in June 1941. It is listed as a historical site in the State Historical Society Register. OCI also operates the Security Unit at UW Hospitals and Clinics. This is a maximum security 10 bed in-patient unit, where inmates for all Wisconsin correctional facilities are sent for specialized medical care.
