INTRODUCTION
The Sanger B. Powers
Correctional Center is located approximately three miles north of the Village of Oneida in
Outagamie County on County Trunk U. The center is situated on 1,700 acres of state-owned
farmland. This 60-bed facility opened in November 1982 and now has a current capacity of
110 for adult males.
PROGRAMS
In keeping with the philosophy of the
Wisconsin Department of Corrections and the Wisconsin Correctional Center System, the
Center makes available meaningful work opportunities for inmates. Inmates are assigned to
various work assignments that teach work experience including center jobs, farm work,
project crew, off-grounds for non-profit or local governments and work release. These
assignments help inmates assume the responsibilities expected of them as citizens of the
community. Sanger B. Powers protects the public by providing safe, secure and humane
treatment with opportunities to practice work skills needed to support a crime-free
lifestyle upon release to the community.
The Center also offers cognitive
intervention, alcohol and drug abuse counseling, and anger management education for
probation and parole offenders.
